Monologue （独り言）
Contrary to all expectations, a date after the event was not made.
The
reason for it was not that I knew something then but that I felt it was shameful
of me to do so.
I was not a man of noble character.
The reason why I
appeared to be a man of high integrity concerning relationships with the
opposite sex
was not that I had been told something from somebody verbally or
in writing nor in other ways
but that I was simply scared of my future
wife.
I was simply scared to be told something about it from my future wife
and my future children.
Whatever may be the outcome, we live in a monogamy
society.
"One husband and one wife" means that...needless to say, you
know.
Humans possess the instinct to sense danger, but love and sex
seem to me to be an exception.
I was afraid that my affair with her would
become the talk of the school.
My extraordinary family environment might be
somewhat advantageous to me, though.
A long long time has passed since
then.
If I should meet her in the future, I must start a conversation with
her from the following words.
"I know about you."
みんなの予想に反して、あの後デートは行われませんでした。
その理油は、私がその時何かを知っていたからではなく、そんなことをするのは自分にとって恥ずかしいことだと感じたからです。
私は人格者というわけではなかったのです。
異性関係に関しては私は立派な人間に見えた理由は、誰かから口頭や文書か何かで何かを言われていたからではなく、
ただ単に将来の奥さんが怖かったからなのです。
将来の奥さんや将来の子供達からそのことについて何かを言われることが単純に怖かったのです。
どう転んでも、我々は一夫一妻制の社会に生きているのですから。
「夫1人に妻1人」というのはつまり・・・言わなくても分かりますよね。
人間には危険を察知する本能が具わっているのですが、恋愛と性に関しては別のように私には思えます。
彼女との事が学校中の噂になることが私には怖かったのです。
私の特殊な家庭環境が幾分かは私に有利に働いたのかもしれませんが。
あれから長い長い時間が過ぎました。
万が一、今後彼女と会うようなことがあるとすれば、私は次の言葉から彼女との会話を始めなければならないでしょう。
「君のことは知っているよ。」と。
